  • Live notes: First round of The Barclays
The PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup has started at The Barclays, and PGATOUR.COM's team is on the scene in Paramus, N.J. We'll provide updates all day with our live first-round notes.

  • New Jersey deserves credit
PARAMUS, N.J. -- I think that it is time for New Jersey to get its due. After all, it has been sitting right across the river from the cultural and business hub of the universe for more than 200 years and still the state is the brunt of countless jokes. You would think being that close to greatness would rub off at least a little. I know that when I stand next to Tiger I stand a little taller and suck in my stomach.

  • Fire destroys Gary Nicklaus' home in Jupiter, Fla.

  • Tway withdraws to caddie for son at U.S. Amateur
PINEHURST, N.C. -- Veteran PGA TOUR player Bob Tway was proud of the second-half push he made to qualify for the Playoffs for the FedExCup. It was no small matter that he decided on Wednesday afternoon to withdraw from the first event, The Barclays.

  • Analysis: How will they play the 'Five and Dime?'
The signature hole at Ridgewood Country Club is the 291-yard, par-4 fifth hole, known as the "Five and Dime." Early members of the club gave it this name because most played it with a 5-iron off the tee and a 10-iron (now a wedge) into the green. Perhaps it will emerge from the 2008 Barclays with a new moniker (One and Run?) as many players will be pulling out driver or 3-wood and going for the green off the tee.

  • What they said: Phil Mickelson
LAURA HILL: Thanks for coming in, I know you've done a ton of media already, so we'll just open it up to questions for Phil.

  • TOUR expands digital coverage for PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- To present fans with more options than ever to follow the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, the PGA TOUR announced incremental digital coverage and distribution aimed at expanding fan access to the competition. The moves include expanding live tournament coverage on PGATOUR.COM as well as distributing it to leading sports portals and content platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and widgets.

  • Tillie's five and dime No. 5 provides risk, reward
    PARAMUS, N.J. -- It's one Tillie hole.

  • New Game, New Thinking: Nick Flanagan profile
Surfing and golf usually aren't spoken in the same sentence, but for rookie Nick Flanagan, they remain passions that require his constant attention. Of course, the surfing dude from Australia had to turn in his surfboard for the most part since moving to Scottsdale; but there's a good chance he'll be hitting the waves in the very near future as we find out in his interview with PGATOUR.COM freelancer Rudy Klancnik, who spoke with Flanagan as part of the New Game, New Thinking series.
